The Martha Property, 110 acres of land that sits majestically atop the Tiburon Peninsula, came nail-bitingly close to becoming a commercial development. But Jerry Riessen wasn’t going to let that happen – even if it took 35 years. Now, thanks to his unwavering dedication and inspiring leadership, this remarkable treasure has been saved as open space – for all of us to enjoy – forever. To honor Jerry and his priceless gift to our community, the City Council recognized him with the Spotlight Award for Excellence in Leadership & Community Service. Created in 2007, the Spotlight Award is given periodically to highlight special achievements that benefit the residents of the Belvedere-Tiburon Peninsula.
